ABOUT MR. DALE - G.C. Burkhead Music Specialist

Picture
My name is Aaron Dale, and I’m proud to be a Hardin County native! While I love teaching your amazing students, what I love most is learning from them.
I’ve been the music teacher at G.C. Burkhead since 2012 and have been teaching in Hardin County Schools since 2002. Before that, I worked with high school marching bands and percussion programs at schools across Kentucky.

I earned my Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Kentucky, where I was certified to teach music for grades K–12. My primary focus was percussion, and I had the privilege of studying under world-renowned professor James Campbell. During my time at UK, I performed in a variety of ensembles, including the Steel Drum Band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra.  I also hold a Master of Science degree in Special Education from Campbellsville University.

Aside from GCB, I direct the Heart of Kentucky Chorus - a local SATB acappella choir.  I also stay busy coaching and arranging for acappella/barbershop ensembles world-wide and have music published through Hal Leonard.
Visit www.dalearrangements.com to learn more of those endeavors.

Interesting Things I Did as a Kid
…many, many years ago...
I used to skateboard all the time--a lot! All over Hardin and Jefferson County. I kept it up all through high school and into my first year of college.  It came with plenty of bruises and twisted ankles!
I also used to snowboard—got to do it in Germany and Austria, which was amazing. I stopped in 2001… my knees just couldn’t take it anymore! 😅
In 7th grade, I played basketball for Radcliff Middle School (now North Middle), then moved to Vine Grove and played for J.T. Alton Middle in 8th grade. In 9th grade, I moved to Fulda, Germany, and ended up on the same high school basketball team as Shaquille O’Neal.
Yes--that Shaq!    …But he left the year before I got there, so I wasn’t actually on the team with him. 😂 He went on to NBA stardom, and I did not!
I played soccer for 10 years, and was on the very first JV soccer team at North Hardin High School in 8th grade.
I went to Parkway Elementary (now North Park Elementary in Radcliff), which is now home to all the Kindergarten kids in the area.
I’m the oldest of five boys—yep, four younger brothers - we caused lots of headache for our parents!  We all played sports, and loved music, and actually sang acappella music together for several years,
